In an official signing ceremony, Ajman University and the British Council signed an MoU that aims at offering IELTS exams on Ajman and Fujairah University Campus.
Professor Ahmed Ankit, Assistant to President for External Relations; Dr. Basheer Shehadah, Assistant to President for Follow-up and Development; Dr. Khaled AlKhaja, Dean College of Information, Mass Communication and Hmanities, welcomed The British Council delegation, which included Mr. Nick Godfrey, Regional Exams Manager, Mr. Marc Jessel, British Council Director, and Mr. Md Nayeemur Rahman, Country IELTS Manager.
Prof. Ankit, thanked the British Council’s representatives for establishing this partnership, which marks the culmination of a relationship that goes back eight years, when Ajman University first met with British Council officials. The British Council brand name, Professor Ankit added, is associated with high professionalism, accuracy, transparency; and these are the values that Ajman University sought when it decided to introduce IELTS exam on its campus.
Dr. Shehadah and Dr. Al Khaja reiterated the aspiration to extend this cooperation to areas of educational development, arts and intercultural dialogue through programs such as TEFL faculty training programs (CELTA and DELTA), student exchange programs, faculty exchange programs, and mutual participation in events.
Mr. Godfrey and Mr. Jessel thanked Ajman University for their warm welcome and endorsed the ideas presented by the representatives. They hoped that Ajman University and the British Council can built on this straightforward agreement, which aims to making IELTS accessible to more students, to strengthen the ties between the two partners and cooperate in programs related to pedagogy development and the Research Connect Program.
